We’re getting majorly excited here at Fink HQ about this festie: a Croatian coastline beauty in mid-July, Soundwave, where we appear just below De La Soul on the bill and alongside a whole host of others (check the poster below).

We’ve never played a gig in Croatia so that’s exciting enough in itself… setting the crystal Mediterranean to a soundtrack of tracks from Perfect Darkness will be a total bonus…

Classics, back on tour and farewell One Shot Not

Hey bloggers! Felt compelled to say a few words as we’re back out on tour in the UK next week… really looking forward to putting the gang back together actually… it’s been ages since I hung out with unwashed guys in combat shorts…

And yesterday we had our first band meeting in ages – sure we’ve all been hectic – but we had to discuss the immense Dutch orchestra gig, and decide stuff like: “Shostakovitch, really?” kinda thing – bizarre for Fink, over beers and beers, to be discussing classical dudes instead of the usual crap we talk about in the bus… it was cool – we crashed the Concertgebouw’s website when we announced the gig a few weeks ago in Amsterdam – which was kinda cool – as I was there at the time… wearing the same hat that was in the posters, splattered up all over Amsterdam – felt kinda weird… I did a little Q&A in the basement of the venue, played a few songs, hung out – it was really nice… actually flew in instead of driving it, in and out style, it was great – like you’re there in 45 minutes… sometimes it’s taken me longer door to door to get to Soho than Amsterdam…

I also experienced, as I’ve been lucky to do a few times over the past few years, what I think every musician secretly yearns for… a piece in BA’s High Life Magazine… captive audience… you know that every musician who flies BA for that month are gonna check it out – we all do – of course we do… nice –

Talking of others… me and The Queen went to the One Shot Not wrap party in Paris a few weeks back, jammed with Manu Katche and his frankly ridiculously talented crew… Krystal Warren did a savage and awe-inspiring performance man, really intense – it’s like there’s some awesome talent out there… it’s a real shame that none of it will find a forum on European television anymore – One Shot Not – we’ll miss you….

So yeah – the new year has been a writing period big time for various artists, some Fink new ones getting laid out, some productions for others – stuff that I promised “sure man, by Xmas, no worries…” kinda stuff – and then kinda didn’t bother, got Xmas’d up, and spent January in a studio-bound frenzy …a few weeks ago I was in with Andreya Triana – awesome voice, and the past couple of days I’ve been in with Charlene Soraia – such a cool thing to hang out with voices of this magnitude… such a pleasure… my voice is like a gravelly builder by comparison… me and the band are also putting together like a “live” kinda package – Rob-a-licious managed to grab some tasty recordings of gigs from last year’s PD tour part 1 (part 2 in April!), and we’re gonna record KOKO, the London show, next week… content rich baby… content rich…

See you next week, we kick off with a show near my old stamping ground: Bath Komedia.. then onto Oxford, London Koko, Cambridge and finally we finally do the grown-up room at Birmingham’s awesome Glee Club… see you out there, with full bells’n'whistles light and visual show from the award-winning 59 Productions crew… See ticket details here

Fink & The Royal Concertgebouworkest – On Sale Now!

We’re thrilled to announce Fink’s first ever sound clash with a real live orchestra, in Amsterdam at the end of April. The world famous Royal Concertgebouworkest, in association with Entrée, have invited us to perform with them at their traditional Koninginnenacht concert at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw on 29th April 2012. To say this is an honour and a privilege is an understatement – we’ll be performing a broad selection of our songs with them, and there’ll be some orchestra-only pieces, as chosen by us. Conducted by Ivan Meylemans with arrangements from Jules Buckley, this is going to be a pretty special night.
